Community gardens may be commonplace all over Europe, but they are yet to hit the mainstream here in the US. They are wonderful for bringing people in a community together and giving urban residents an opportunity to grow their own food. There are a few great examples of successful community gardens throughout the country and we have highlighted a few below. There is also a movement around the country that is addressing the issue of food security. Many low-income communities are "food deserts", meaning there is a limited access to fresh food. This is a huge issue and many organizations are trying to tackle this critical issue, including Farmer D Organics.
