Farmer D Organics Biodynamic Planting Mix
Farmer D Organics Biodynamic® Blend Organic Planting Mix is a unique, new potting medium made
not only from the highest quality organic materials, but also from special Biodynamic ingredients.
Biodynamic refers to a science of life forces, which recognizes that soil itself is alive, and this
vitality supports and affects the quality and health of the plants that grow in it.
Biodynamic® Blend Organic Planting Mix is ideal for filling raised beds and containers to be used
for growing all types of vegetables, herbs, flowers, berries, fruit trees, annuals, perennials and more.
For container planting: Begin with a clean pot with a drain hole in the bottom. Fill pot
about one-third full of Biodynamic® Blend Organic Planting Mix. Add and mix in organic
fertilizer (see fertilizer recommendations below) either in the pot or pre-mix before potting.
Gently place plant into pot making sure the roots are completely beneath the soil. Add
more mix to fill, pressing gently to compact soil slightly around plant. Water well, but allow
water to drain out of hole in bottom. Do not let the pot sit in a tray of water.
For raised beds: Fill raised bed to the top with Farmer D Organics Biodynamic® Blend
Organic Planting Mix and blend in recommended quantity of organic fertilizer. Multiply the
width x length x height to determine how many cubic feet of soil to use. As an example, for
a 3' x 3' by 6" bed, multiply 3x3x.5 = 4.5 cubic feet.
For gardens and landscapes: Farmer D Organics Biodynamic® Blend Organic Planting
Mix can be applied directly to the ground for gardens and landscape beds and will act as
a compost and soil conditioner in one. Apply generously at approximately 1 cubic foot bag
per 10 square feet.
For transplanting seedlings: Mix Farmer D Organics Biodynamic® Blend Organic
Planting Mix with recommended organic fertilizer (see below), fill pots halfway, transplant
seedlings gently into pots and fill with remaining soil. Water gently and thoroughly.
General Fertilizer Recommendations
For Containers: Mix 1/4 cup of Farmer D Organics All-Purpose Organic Fertilizer per gallon
of planting mix before planting. One week after germination, root initiation or transplanting add
4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) Farmer D Organics All Purpose Organic Fertilizer per quart of potting
soil and water in.
For a 4" or 6" pot, add 1 Tablespoon
For a 8" or 10" pot, add 2 Tablespoon
For a 12" pot, add 3 Tablespoon
For Raised Beds: Mix one to two pounds of Farmer D Organics All-Purpose Fertilizer per cubic
foot of planting mix.
Ingredients: This product is formulated using 55% aged pine bark, 30% Farmer D Biodynamic Compost
(composted cotton gin waste, composted pine peelings, chicken litter, composted green waste, peat humus,
granite dust and biodynamic preparations(processed yarrow, chamomile, nettle, oak bark, dandelion, valerian,
and horsetail herb)), 10% topsoil and 5% sand.
In Georgia this product contains 45%-55% aged pine bark, Farmer D Biodynamic Compost (composted
cotton gin waste, composted pine peelings, composted chicken litter, composted green waste, peat humus,
granite dust and biodynamic preparations (processed yarrow, chamomile, nettle, oak bark, dandelion,
valerian, and horsetail herb)), topsoil and sand.
