GROW RADISHES WITH YOUR LETTUCE!
Start planting Lettuces and Radishes September 1st! Radishes push through clay soil and make growing ideal for maturing lettuce. (Lettuce does best in well drained soil). Radishes mature in approximately 3 weeks and are harvested halfway through lettuce's growing cycle.
Remember that lettuce seeds need light to germinate so only lightly cover them with soil when planting the seeds.
You can also plant lettuce in containers. Good companions to lettuce other than the radish are cilantro, arugula, nasturtiums and calendula.
