What's Growing On:

Digging In
with Farmer D!
All this cloudy, wet weather is perfect for transplanting seedlings into the garden as they will adjust to their new home much easier when the soil is wet and sun is not beating down on them. This is a great time to put in lettuce and brassica transplants as well as direct seeding carrots, beets, radishes and greens.

PLANT OF THE WEEK:
Red Sorrell!
A really cool perennial herb that looks awesome, is high in Vitamin C and tastes pretty darn good too. It adds a lemonzest flavor to salads and the red stripes make for a beautiful garnish. It is easy to grow and will last for years so long as you keep cutting back the stem to keep it from blooming. This one is a BIG hit with kids too! We also have a wide variety of herbs including mint, basil, tarragon, thyme, sacred basil, parsley, and more...

Compost Corner
Grass clippings are a great source of nitrogen in the compost. If the grass in your yard is ready to cut, bag it up in your lawnmower and add it to your compost pile in thin layers between leaves, soil and vegetable scraps from the kitchen. Keep your grass organic by using organic fertilizers and herbicides, which are both available here at our store and online.
