Growing Strawberries at Home
Growing Strawberries is an exciting project for the winter in the Southern United States. The plants survive and thrive in the cooler temperatures and bring about a beautiful bounty in the spring. Strawberries have a hard time making it through the summer due to the heat and over exposure to moisture. To protect the delicate root systems of the strawberry plants from moisture, competition, and the cold, landscaping fabric is used atop the soil surrounding the plant. If you have strawberry plants in the ground, it is best to water them early in the morning and before three o'clock in the afternoon. If it is a really cloudy or foggy day, it is best to skip the second watering. If you don't have strawberries or have never tried them, check out our exciting Deluxe Strawberry Kit sale on the featured products section!

Farmer D's Compost Tips)
VEGGIE TEA PARTY
Compost tea is made by a process in which compost is brewed in water. The solution is then spread on plants to serve as a fertilizer and also prevent certain types of plant diseases. It speeds up the decay process on top of the soil by colonizing the plant litter and creating a natural fertilization process. Using compost tea is an organic alternative to synthetic fertilizers and other chemicals used to protect plants. To learn more about compost tea, contact us or stop by and grab some of our home brew!
